Fast cars & groundhogs

Grand Prix weekend has arrived in town, as has my brother Jim.  We're enjoying the whole Formula 1circus!
Out for drinks and quesadillas on Peel St.

A row of Lamborghinis on Peel.  We haven't found the street of Ferraris yet.

The view from our grandstand, turns 1 and 2 - the start of the race should be exciting!

It's amazing how close to the track our grandstand is - the closest seats are about 10 feet from the track - feels like we're right on top of them!  Our seats, however, are up near the top of the grandstand.

There are four other races also being held this weekend - one of them is a Historic Grand Prix, using cars from the 70's and 80's - this is a Ferrari that was driven in 1980 by the Canadian driver Gilles Villenueve, after whom the Montreal track is named.

Walking through the park and around the lake in the middle of the track provided some idyllic sights.  This is a public beach, when the race isn't on.

And, some of the local wildlife - groundhogs make an on-track appearance occasionally.  Imagine their surprise to see a noisy car coming at them at 200mph!!
The actual race is tomorrow - we're hoping the weather forecast is wrong, and that the predicted rain will suddenly turn to sunshine, like on Friday.

Hope you guys felt guilty sitting around drinking when you could have been helping me shovel compost and mulch ALL DAY.

Spencer will like the Lamborghini pic. Looks like great seats - have fun tomorrow!
