There's an area at the southwest corner of the city that's home to 4 golf courses, a First Nations reserve, and a whole bunch of horses and stables. The main riding centre puts on a 'country fair', where city slickers are welcome to come and get their shoes dirty, and enjoy a bunch of country and horsey things.
The local musical ride hopefuls put on a precision riding show.

Duck herding. The dogs convinced the ducks to go through several obstacles (like the tube just beyond the dog).
It's cool to see this kind of area, so close to the hustle and bustle of the city! A totally different world.
A little fella getting ready for his riding lesson.
It was a nice little getaway for a beautiful afternoon!
Oh yes, there was a bit of a market at the fair, where we determinedly avoided the pies and cakes, but fell victim to the stall with "jackets for $20". We each picked up a new (simulated) shearling jacket for the winter. We did feel kinda silly carrying them around for the rest of the time, but a deal's a deal!

Where's the picture or you guys modelling your jackets??
Lovely garden picture.
And it's too bad the pony rides were just for kids, because you've got plenty of giddyup. :)
