SFU

On a beautiful Thanksgiving Sunday, we took a drive up to Simon Fraser University, on top of a hill in Burnaby, with a gorgeous view of Vancouver and the water and mountains to the north.

Totem poles on the west side, with a view to Vancouver in the distance.

Indian Arm inlet to the north.

We were surprised to see that the roses were still thriving!

The main outdoor gathering space at the university, with a huge roof, made with wooden trusses.

This had the feeling of an outdoor classroom, surrounded by a hedge.

A well-manicured sunken grove of trees.

Lots of beautiful spaces on the grounds.

These fish were very accustomed to humans coming to feed them, and we felt a bit freaked out with how they followed us around!!  Luckily, they did stay in the pool.

A 'green wall' on one of the buildings, with various plant types forming stripes.

It's a beautiful place to be when the warm sun is shining, and it was fun to explore the place, finding areas that we hadn't seen before!

Here are some additional shots that I didn't post.

Nice shots. I like the totems with the Vancouver totems in the background. Interesting cultural commentary.
