The XL lofts, built in 1999, close to the beginning of the "artist lofts" craze. You can get a ground floor studio (comes with custom murphy bed/office/dining table - I'm thinking of trying to get a viewing just to see what that looks like) for $300,000. Do you know any artists who can come up with that kind of scratch? Still, a rather cool place!

That's a really cool building. It looks like it's built out of blocks. I read today that the average income in Vancouver (I think it was $60,000 - I'm not of the average!) would have to spend something like 75% of their income on a mortgage in the city. I really don't get this phenomenon of only the wealthy being able to own a home. I feel Derrick and I make a very decent living, but we will NEVER own a home. And we don't want to so it's all good, but still.
