Bonne Année!

On New Year's Eve day, we went for a walk in a park at the end of one of the Metro lines. It was far enough out in the 'burbs to have a nice large natural park, and on such a nice sunny day, it was a very beautiful way to end the year!

We trekked up Mont Royal at night, in anticipation of watching the fireworks at the old port. Our whole plan was to bundle up in our winter coats, hats, and mitts (with those little hand and foot warmers), crunch our way through the crisp fresh snow, sip hot chocolate, and watch the show from up on the mountain, then hurry back home to thaw out. Instead, we wore our spring coats, put up our umbrellas, took off our gloves halfway up, and watched the show through the fog, in the light drizzle. But it was still very enjoyable! A bunch of people up at the lookout had brought fireworks, and so there was a show going on behind us as well - made it pretty exciting, especially after a few of the firworks fell over, and shot their little explosions into the crowd instead of into the sky.
All in all, a New Year's like no other for us!
I wish you all a Happy New Year!

Happy New Year. Glad you didn't get hit by a firework...that could leave a mark.
