"Snow Fest" is happening for the next few weekends on one of the islands of Montreal. We bundled up against the frigid temperatures, and headed over for a look.
The nice man at the fort gave us some history on the defense of Montreal and Quebec, drawing a map of the area from Lake Ontario to the mouth of the St Lawrence, showing how they needed to defend against an American invasion. Some great snow carving.
I got to try out some old style curling - the sheet of ice had a wicked hill in the middle, making for quite a challenging throw!

Oh man I have a lot of comments.
1. How cold was it? It was -26 here on Saturday. Blah.
2. Why is there no picture of you curling?
3. Why is there no picture of you tubing?!
4. Was the history lesson en francais?
5. How is your French? Just wondering.
6. Festival du Voyageur is starting soon--Feb 11 to 27. Fun times.

Hey, we both have horses on our blogs.
Looks like fun. Good for you for venturing out in the sun-dog-coldness.
L, that was my first thought too when I saw your blog this morning!
Replies for S-L:
1. It was -15 (-23 windchill). Or 25 degrees colder than we've become accustomed to.
2. The audience was too enthralled with the action to remember to get her camera out.
3. How do you know one of those little specks wasn't me? Ok, I'm holding out for the big slide at Winter Carnival in Quebec city.
4. He started en francais, but was put off by our blank looks.
5. Um, not so good.
6. Bundle up and have fun!
Just so I don't confuse your readership--Festival du Voyageur is Feb 18 to 27. Ooops.
