Can we really have been home a month already?!? Time is still flying - guess we're still having fun! Thought I'd post some pics from the long weekend - we puttered around town, enjoyed a few different things.
On Saturday, we headed downtown for a bit of a walkabout, checking out the Lantern Festival, seeing the progress of a few new buildings that had started construction before we left, and I showed Jenn some of my favorite lunch spots along the waterfront near my office.
At Canada Place, the words to our national anthem are embedded in the pavement - here's the part that inspired my choice of email address.
Young graffiti artists are getting their start, in chalk, at the daycare at the community centre.
The community garden, beside the bridge going downtown.
On Sunday, there was an open house at the football stadium, where they're replacing the big inflated dome roof, with a cable-supported retractable roof. It's still got a long way to go, but it was very cool to see the work in progress!
The centre part that covers the football and soccer field will be retractable - the seating areas will remain covered all the time.
The cables are hung from these towers around the outside edge of the building. They're huge!
After enjoying that, we headed out to one of the suburbs at the east end of Burrard Inlet, to enjoy a concert in the park - it was a gorgeous sunny summer day (finally!) to enjoy some good music.
Then we went for a walk around the bay, on a lovely path through the woods...
and along a boardwalk over the marsh. Beautiful place, beautiful weekend. And no bugs!
