A tale of two tours

Thursday was a very eye-opening day.  In the morning, I went on a tour of a jail, which included going into one of the housing units with 60 inmates hanging out, and right into a cell.  Let me tell you, I will never turn to a life of crime, no matter how desperate things get.  That is not a place I would care to go again.

The afternoon tour was more appealing - a condo tower that I worked on has just been completed, and is ready for the first residents to move in.  A bunch from our office went for a top-to-bottom tour, from the two-storey penthouse, to the pool and gym on the 2nd floor, to the amenity space in the basement, with squash court and golf simulator.  We didn't get to see the Ferrari courtesy car though.

This is the roof deck at the main living level of the penthouse - the coloured strips are different colours of quartz stones.

Of course, the view from the top is amazing!

This is the main kitchen (there are two in the penthouse).  The countertop is 1/2" thick stainless steel, one piece, with a bend (the blue is just protective plastic).

The shower in the master bath easily held our whole group of 10 people.

One of the closets (with a view) in a secondary bedroom.

Another deck, at the very top of the penthouse condo.

The next unit that we visited was on the 24th & 25th floor, a double-height condo.  This one is my favorite, and the one I'd buy if I had an extra $20 million or so!

I'm so glad I got the chance to go through the building - as always, seeing the results of drawings that I work on is very rewarding!

Today was my last day of snowboarding for the season - after tomorrow, the hill is closing, to start construction on the new chair-lift.

A last look at the old, slow chair.

And, last but not least, the cherry blossoms are now out in full strength - beautiful!

Those condos are insane! How many storeys high is the building? The ground looks very far down from the rooftop shots. That closet - OBVIOUSLY not nice enough to be the master bedroom closet :) Can only imagine what that one was like.

Why no jail pictures? Did you feel shy to take out your camera in front of the prisoners?
