Bikes & Birds in domes

Friday night we enjoyed watching some racing at the indoor velodrome in Burnaby.  It's an air-inflated dome, and is one of the few indoor velodromes in North America.

There were a variety of races, making it very interesting to watch.  Amazing to see them take the turns, which are very steeply banked!

Today we headed up to the Bloedel Conservatory in Queen Elizabeth park.  It's a dome made of aluminum frame and plexiglas windows, built in 1969.

Great view of the city from up there, and what looks like snow clouds up on the mountains (I hope!).

Inside, it's nice and tropical, with a huge variety of plants and trees from around the world.

It's also home to a lot of brightly coloured parrots, peacocks, and finches.
