Last weekend we went over to West Vancouver for a "Halibut Festival" at one of the upscale grocery stores.
Before we got there, we checked out a stream that our friend Derrick told us about, with a fish ladder to help spawning trout and salmon make it upstream.
Some mosaics, with a view of Lion's Gate Bridge.
Oh yeah, we did end up seeing the fish ladders.
A nice park along the way.
And, once we got to the Halibut Festival, a contest to guess the size of the halibut - it was HUGE!!!
A fishing boat, set up in the parking lot of the store.
Halibut burgers, SOOOO good!

What the heck??? Halibut can get that big? I wonder if they taste different when they get that big...

I was surprised too, about the size of the fish - but apparently that's the normal size of halibut - typically up to 100 lbs, but they can get a LOT bigger, the official record being over 400 lbs, but a 515 lb fish (9 ft long) is awaiting certification.
