No really, I'm Irish!

The St. Patrick's Day parade was held yesterday, under a bright sunny sky - perfect weather to bring out the crowds! This is billed as the largest St. Patrick's Day parade in Canada - at 2 1/2 hours and 25 floats, I don't doubt it. Though the whole "Irish for a Day" was stretched a bit, I believe.

The "World's Largest Leprechaun" showed his face in public for the day.

There were planes flying low-and-slow...

and high-fast-and-loud. This was the first time we had seen fighter jets taking part in a parade!! I'm not sure, but I think the (Irish) pilots were throwing out candy.

Very detailed and intricately built (Irish) train!

A troupe of (Irish) Ukranian dancers took part.

As did the (Irish) steel drum band. I love the sound of those drums!

Purple latex gloves - a highly sought-after accessory!

Live chickens and sheep were even exploring their Irish roots.

Just some crazy leprechauns dancing in inflated bubbles, with a pot of golden dancers in between.

Some bystanders joined in the festivities more than others! This woman certainly enjoyed the event! Hope she made it to work ok today...

Hot on the tail of the parade was the cleanup crew - no hanging around, basking in the afterglow. Very efficient at clearing the crowds!

Oh man, this requires many comments:

-I like that St. Patrick looks like he's going to sacrifice that unsuspecting lady in the first picture.
-I think the Irish Ukranian dancers is my favorite...especially because there is a guy with a green jersey with the name BUTT in the background.
-Were those THE Solid Gold Dancers on the leprechaun bubble float??
-All Irish festivities end with security and clean up.
