This afternoon we walked around Outremont for a few hours - it's the borough on the 'other' side of Mont Royal from downtown. Was a beautiful, sunny, somewhat cool and windy day.
Still some snow on the mountain. The original cross was carried to the top by the founder of the city, in 1643, as thanks to the Virgin Mary for preventing a disasterous flood. The current version was built in 1924, and is 103' tall. The communication towers are CBC (left) and other TV and radio stations (right).

I hope the kids who go to this school are inspired by the awesome building!
I believe this is a private residence - at least it was on a street of other large residences, and there's no indication that this is otherwise! Someone has to clean all that...

A lovely (and unusual) little structure in one of the parks. Jenn said she'd love to have a dinner party there - would be a beautiful setting! Imagine it at night with a bunch of candles burning, a string quartet playing, and delicious food!
I think this is the coolest Metro station we've seen so far - very interesting space!

That cross is amazing--it give us awesome reception from God all the way out here in Manitoba. :)
I agree with the school comment!
I'm sure whoever is cleaning that house is getting paid very well.
If you host a dinner party at this park, can we come?
And that is a very cool metro.

Love all the photos of old buildings!! I'd love to see inside those big homes, but not live in one.
Funny that the French canadians have the biggest Irish parade...although one has to question their definition of Irish!!!
