Christmas Market

Tonight we went to the Vancouver Christmas Market, an 'authentic outdoor German Christmas village', with a whole bunch of shops selling crafts and gifts, and food vendors selling bratwurst, waffles, and mulled wine.

Last year was the first year that they had the market, and just minutes before it was to open, there was a propane gas leak, and a fire that ruined a few of the huts. But they recovered, and perhaps due to the unexpected publicity, it became quite a draw!

There's a carousel, which wasn't spinning quite as fast as it appears. You can't even see the horses!

The variety of decorations was quite something! There are some very busy German ornament makers.

We were tempted to get this little guy.

Thus ends my participation in the LMNNWM challenge. Thanks for coming, and til next time, auf viedersehn!

I like the carousel photo. It looks like the reindeer has either been flung off it, or he is playing truth or dare and trying to leap back on. And CUTE photographer guy!!!

Christkindlmarkts are so fun! Did they have the authentic 1 metre bratwurts? Or fresh pretzels dipped in chocolate? Or Nutella crepes? Was there live music? Ben has a wood tree ornament and Emeth a wood star ornament from Passau's.

The brats were not quite that long - how on earth do you eat something like that!?! Fresh pretzels, but no chocolate dip. I think there were crepes, but I had a waffle-on-a-stick. Yup, live music on the bandstand (in the first pic).
