Museum Day

On Saturday, we enjoyed something called "Winter Wander", where you could visit the Museum of Vancouver, the Marine Museum, the Space Centre & Planetarium, the Vancouver Archives, Vancouver Academy of Music, and the Bard on the Beach (Shakespeare festival), all for the great low price of $5! That was a great deal, and we managed to see about half of what was available.

The building housing the Museum of Vancouver and the Space Centre is modeled after a Salish (first nations) hat.

The Marine Museum's star attraction is the RCMP boat that was the first vessel to sail the Northwest Passage from west to east, in 1940, and the first vessel to circumnavigate North America. It was used to patrol the Arctic Ocean extensively, and survived 12 winters where it was stuck in sea ice for up to 10 months at a time (with a crew of 12 men).

How do you guys always find out about these inexpensive little events??? I need to know your secrets on Wednesday. We can hide in the bathroom and you can tell me then if you don't want anyone else to hear...
