Snow, light, and snow

We got a pretty good snowfall last week - ended up with about 4" on the ground, before the rain washed it away.  Made for some pretty challenging conditions to get around in!

Last night we went to the Chinese garden, where they had a winter solstice lantern festival.  It's a beautiful place, made even more special with paper lanterns of all shapes and sizes.

Today I headed up the mountain for some more snowboarding - there's been more than 2 meters of snow in the last week!

The patrol hut is rapidly disappearing!

Heavily laden trees, with the chairlift beyond.

The contrast is a little severe, but the lighting was pretty dramatic, with heavy snow clouds looming.  It started snowing again just after I took these photos, and in the 2 hours that I was there, we got another 3 inches of snow, and in the 10 minutes or so that it took me to change out of my wet snowboarding outfit, we got a half inch!
