LU #3

My sister is here in Vancouver for a quick visit accompanying her mother-in-law (who is visiting her son), and so, we get to do touristy things, like go on a paddle-wheel riverboat tour. Along the way, we went under several bridges, this one being the most striking as I was looking up.

Coolest part of the trip - I got to steer the boat. Yep, it was pretty cool. The wheel is about 6 feet in diameter, so it really felt like I was doing something!! When we were approaching a narrow swinging bridge opening, the Captain finally took over the steering duties again. 'Twas very cool!! (sorry, I really should read what I'm posting before hitting publish - how uncool is it to keep using the same word?!?)

(that's the captain back at his post, in case you're wondering)

Great surprise to see your new series!

The captain doesn't look like he's doing his job. Maybe he thinks you're still in charge of steering. Hope that all worked out and you didn't hit a cruise ship or anything.

No pictures of Jan? I want to see if she's changed since I last saw her.

I love the bridge one! And you steering the boat brought back memories of when I graduated from hairdressing and we all went on the River rouge cruise and a friend and I got to steer the boat. We were 19, dressed rather provocatively and slightly inebriated. I'm thinking the captain probably enjoyed the moment.

Hah! I'm sure he was happy for the distraction! I was dressed very conservatively, but the Captain was very bored up there by himself, and welcomed the chance of danger and mayhem.

OK, OK, I'm trying to catch up with all the dedicated/disciplined bloggers...

Dan, even after you publish, even if people have left comments, you can still "edit"--you know that, right? Although it is a little sneaky.

My River Rouge memory is not so happy: our gr. 6 teacher (Dale's dad) bravely took his class on the RR, only to have the naughty ones throw creamers and ashtrays overboard. (They ended up having to pay for that, I think.)

Yeah Julie, I know I can edit, but where's the fun in that?!? If I've caught myself using a word to death, I'm not afraid of setting myself out as an example of what not to do!

I remember that about the RR - I think that was a bit of a tradition. Not that I participated in it. :-)
