A couple of shots of one of the old (1903) buildings that is part of Vancouver General Hospital. They're demolishing one of the more recent additions that has hidden it for a number of years, as I've mentioned in an earlier post. The curvaceous staircase is, alas, a later addition that is not deemed worth saving. Somehow I think bringing the railing to current building code standards would change the look of it somewhat.

I love old buildings. I bet I've said that on your blog many times before. It's the one thing I miss about Wpg - more history there than here. Of course, Ireland trumps both cities...
Wow that building they ripped down (from the earlier post) really was a bit of an eye sore. I think one of my favorite things about Winnipeg is the old buildings. (Thanks Siobhan!). Another neat thing that I've noticed around Winnipeg more recently is the marrying of old and new architecture. I think it is very cool, if it is done well, of course.

I'll add my vote for old buildings. I like the staircase too.
