The project I'm currently working on is putting in a restaurant in the space above Holt Renfrew. Our office did the whole store renovation a few years ago, including building the shell for the restaurant. It's been used as storage since then, and now they want to finish it in time to make a whole bunch of money during the olympics. Gosh, did I feel out of place going through Holts - I felt like I should just show them my wallet at the door, and let them kick me out.

Where do you actually work? I've been meaning to ask that since the versatility of your company picture. ;)
I know the Holt Renfrew phenomenon. I went in one day because there was a sign for a fur coat sale and I was interested to know what a fur coat would cost. Not that I would ever buy one, just to see. The first one I looked at was half price for $6000. Holy crap did I get out of there fast before they arrested me for touching the merchandise.

P.S. Have you discovered what the cat stands for yet?
It's like a whole different world in Holt's. Do really rich people actually care about the big sale, seeing as they are still tossing $6000 out the door on a product that will only get spray painted the moment they step beyond their front door? Like, does a rich person brag to their friends "I only paid $6000 for this! Isn't that awesome?"
Good question, Siobhan - what does a Sale mean to the rich? I suppose it's a big help for the wannabe rich - it just means that their 6th credit card will take a little longer to max out. Talking to the project manager though, the people of Holt's (owners, managers and staff, maybe not so much the customers) are really nice people, not at all snobbish. YMMV
I haven't discovered what the cat means yet. But I've been researching it in my sleep. I dreamed of kittens two nights in a row. The first one's name was Mick. How do I know? He told me. He could speak English. I should have asked him if he knew what our company has to do with cats.
To answer your question, I work at IBI Group, an international company of Architects, Engineers, Planners, Landscape Architects, and other more esoteric professions, hence teh (I'll leave that on in for Sio) versatility. Now you know!
What does YMMV mean?
Looks like a cool space. When it's done, I'll come visit and we could go eat caviar there. (in my simple little world, it's the only $$ thing I could think of)
Your Mileage May Vary. aka Your Results May Vary.
Caviar it is! See you in January (or so).
Very cool Daniel (about where you work). And now I'm even more interested to know what cats have to do with architects, engineers, planners, landscape architects. Did Mick the cat resemble Mick Jagger at all? I think we should see how your readership interprets your dream...for a prize of course. :P
I have an acquaintance who is in the money (and sadly never gives any of it to me) and she is generally super pumped about sales. I've totally heard her say, "Look at this shirt...I just love it and I got such a great deal! It was %60 off...for $179. Can you believe it?" It was a very plain shirt (fyi) and no I can't believe it. And I will now use my new favorite abbreviation...YMMV.
