St Joseph's Oratory

Yesterday's sightseeing excursion was St. Joseph's Oratory, a magnificent basilica, built between 1916 and 1955.

We were suprised at the contrast between the very classical and ornate exterior, and the comparatively modern, spare interior. However, the first impression that they just didn't finish the interior soon gave way to the admiration for the simplicity of decoration, and the intricate ironwork and precise detailing that they used. We hope to return sometime, to hear the organ play - they do have recitals each Sunday afternoon.

No kidding--that is quite a contrast between exterior and interior. It must have been very unexpected. Is the silhouetted subject in the last pic someone famous? :)

VERY famous!!

We've been joking that pretty much the only photos we have of each other are ones snuck in while the other is shooting something.

I can't wait to see Jen capturing a picture of you shooting something...like a BB gun at pop cans because you hate waste and pop.
