Beach

Last week, during a nice stretch of hot weather, we decided to enjoy dinner on the beach.  It was a gorgeous evening, and made us wonder why we don't do that more often!!

On Saturday we headed downtown to catch the closing sale of the downtown Sears store.  Managed to get a bunch of clothes that we had planned, plus more that we hadn't planned.

All the store fixtures are being sold off too, and up on the 5th floor, they had a lot of stuff laid out.

Kind of pompous looking...

We would have bought one of these, but couldn't choose between hot pink or red.

On our way home, we enjoyed a scenic back alley, behind the Orpheum Theatre.

And stopped for refreshment at a great little patio, overlooking a construction site.  They had to put up the wall, for protection, and had the foresight to put in windows.

A look at the patio from the other end of the site.  I hope the wall holds...

On Sunday, I volunteered at a bike ride around the city (no, I didn't ride it,  but you had the choice of 65 or 110km).  The ride was in support of an art exhibition which has sculptures all over the city (I've shown one of them here before).  My day started out kinda boring, as I was stationed on the bridge, starting at 7am, and it was cold and windy.

The riders flew by pretty quick, and after 2 hours, they had all passed, so I headed to the finish area, and helped out there for a few more hours - and ended up having a much better time.

The walking machine that I posted a video of last month was there - and I got to ride it this time!  Very cool machine, a great crowd-pleaser, and the sculptor who made was very interesting to talk to.  He invited me to drop by his studio sometime, under the Lions Gate bridge - that's something I look forward to!!

And some domestic art:

Ingredients for taco seasoning...

Assembled product, ready for mixing.  Looks like a landscape, with mountains and clouds.

(Got this posted just in time for another weekend adventure...)

Your view of the patio wall/window from the other end of the site made me snort-laugh. You have a wonderful sense of overstatement. :)
