It was an absolutely gorgeous weekend here - sunny and warm! I'm pretty sure everyone has now forgotten about the Habs getting knocked out of the playoffs.
As Jenn is visiting her parents again, I spent the weekend on my own, and much of both days on my bike. There was a ride that I wanted to take, alongside the St Lawrence seaway. There's a ridge of land that forms one side of the channel, from near downtown Montreal towards the west, and running about 23km along the south side of the river. I went 13km along, just past a set of locks.
There was a fair bit of traffic - I saw 4 ships go by, and a ship in both sets of locks that I saw.
I turned around at the Lachine Rapids, which was the barrier that the seaway was built to circumvent. And waaay off in the distance, you can see the dome of St Joseph's Oratory (far left) and Mont Royal at the right, with the towers of downtown below.
Today I did a shorter route, to the Formula 1 racetrack, where they're busy building the grandstands for next month's race. I've heard about the wildlife that shows up sometimes during the race, and happened upon a fox!
A view of the city, and Fort de l'Île Sainte-Hélène, built in 1820.
Part of the Jacques-Cartier bridge, built in 1930. Some serious fencing along the walkway of the bridge!
And another one of those clever little things I keep running into in this city - a series of swings, and when you coordinate your swinging with the two people next to you, you generate some music, similar to plucking the strings of a harp!

Yes, those swings are a brilliant way to get people exercising. (swinging is exercise, right?!)
Loved catching up here, Dan! Especially all the history stuff. Cute little fox, crazy suffers, too bad the fort was closed, loved the newspaper statue guy!!
