A nice little art deco building I pass on my way to work every day (or on my way to the green grocer for our dinner veggies). Just has a good feel. It's a private surgery centre.
It describes a style of art and architecture made popular by the "Paris Exposition des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels" in 1925, and someone got tired of saying that whole name, so shortened it to Art Deco.
Among the characteristics are simple clean shapes and bold geometric patterns. This building doesn't actually have a lot of the characteristics, but the overall feel was definitely inspired by art deco. A more complete example is the Marine Building downtown - I'll try to swing by there sometime this month.
