NNWM #1

Seems daunting, especially now that the leaves have fallen and the weather has turned gray, but I'll try keeping up with L's NaNoWriMo challenge.

These were the pumpkins at our party on Monday - not at our house, but at our old house. Two of the tenants (our former neighbours, and good friends) are still there, and after one Halloween at our current place, where we prepared for 100 kids and got 6, we've been returning to the old place for a potluck dinner and much laughter, and around 300 kids. We ended the night with 10 pieces of candy left, not counting the undisclosed number that had made it into our bellies.

The neighbourhood is a destination kind of place, with tons of kids being brought in from other places. Lot of houses are decorated extensively (some expensively as well), and the vibe is great! We end up taking a walk around the neighbourhood, shooting off a box of fireworks, and enjoying the atmosphere (and the fog and smoke).

The top pumpkin is ours, in our family's this year's cat theme. I wonder what it'll be next year? I didn't see a cat in Joan's pics, but I'm sure there was one in there somewhere!

Thanks for joining - November's going to be a good month!! Wow - 300 kids!?! I heard some places in La Salle got 2000 kids, but that must be a lie - who would have that much candy?? Based on 3 hours of trick-or-treating, that would be over 16 kids a minute.

Anyway, sounds like a fun time over there. The window panes on your pumpkin must have been crazy to carve. Your pumpkin is the best by far :)

Those lines look pretty thin around the cat. What did you use to cut it? Nice work by the way. Jim

I used a laser, of course! ;-) Or a steak knife... yeah, I guess it was just a steak knife. The lines are thicker toward the back.

L, I'm sure we had at least 16 kids a minute at times, but not for 3 hours straight. Those poor people must have bought candy by the truckload!
