What a difference a day makes

A day of sunshine makes us forget very quickly the wind and rain that happened yesterday. This was the scene on my way to work this morning, quite a change from the wind-whipped water I experienced yesterday at lunch-time.

They've lit the Olympic cauldron, in honour of the Grey Cup celebration.

I like how the distortion through the heat mimics the wavy glass that covers the legs of the cauldron.

As much as I love Winnipeg, I must say I would never get tired of looking at those mountains. You have so many - why can't we have just one?

Out of curiosity, was this the site of a pavilion for Expo 86?

Which are do you mean, Stephen?

In the first shot, the condos in the distance with B.C. Place in the crowd was the area which held most of Expo.

The plaza in the 2nd & 3rd shots was still a rail yard at the time. But just to the east of the plaza is Canada Place (the 5 sails). In between the two is the new convention centre building, which was built for the Olympics.
