They've made some progress...

I had another chance today to go into the construction site itself - normally, we stay on this side of the fence, but on Friday afternoons, when it's a bit quieter on site, they let us office workers don hardhats, safety vests, and work boots, and go for a tour, seeing what exactly we've been working on all this time.  Since last visit in June, they've come up out of the ground with much of the building, and the immense scale of the thing becomes much more clear.

The lowest floor is the mechanical plant, a huge double-height space (notice the little man at the top of the lift at right of the picture) that will serve most of the heating and cooling needs of the entire hospital.  From here, there's a passageway underneath the rest of the building, that will soon be filled with pipes carrying hot or cold water to the rest of the building.

The complex structure creates some fascinating spaces!

This shows the curve of the front facade.  I'm standing at ground floor level now - the parking garage will fill in the space to the right.

This big hole will have 3 levels of visitor parking, with some more below the main building as well, for a total of 1600 cars.  Staff parking will be in a separate building, with room for 1300 cars.

This will be the main cafeteria seating area.
I'm so glad to have the opportunity to see the results of what I've been working on!

No kidding - that's enormous! It must look a lot different in real than on paper! (well hopefully not too different - hope they're following the drawings!)
